Kareena standing for elections from Bhopal? Hahahaha!

This is the season of rumours in Bollywood and one of the biggest and funniest that popped up yesterday was the one about Kareena Kapoor Khan standing for Lok Sabha elections on a Congress ticket from Bhopal.

It is said that the actress was approached by Priyanka Gandhi. Bhopal, because Kareena’s husband Saif Ali Khan is from Bhopal, and the Congress Party is keen on fielding a winning candidate from the constituency that has been with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) since 1989.

It is reported that Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath is being pressed to give Kareena a party ticket from Bhopal. The Pataudi family has property in the old city and is also hugely popular there. Her father-in-law, the cricket legend Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi, had contested from Bhopal in 1991 and lost to the BJP’s Sushil Chandra Verma.

But Kareena’s stardom is bound to make an impression on the young voters of Bhopal and bring about a reversal in fortunes for the Congress in these Lok Sabha elections, sources say. That is the need of the hour and the party would be keen on cashing in on the actress’ popularity.

However, another rumour has it that Kareena would like to contest the polls on a Congress ticket from the Mumbai North Central constituency that was earlier with Priya Dutt and now with the BJP’s Poonam Mahajan Rao. This is closer home and is familiar territory for her. But Kareena’s family, which is reportedly pro-BJP, is not in favour of this.

The actress herself has chosen to maintain a laughing silence in all this madness but sources close to Kareena Kapoor Khan have told PeepingMoon.com that the news is totally improbable and not true at all. She is busy shooting for Karan Johar’s films Good News opposite Akshay Kumar and Takht alongside Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Anil Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal at the moment. And that is all she is interested in doing.
