Exclusive: ‘I'm aware of my son Aryaman's popularity, will be happy if he chooses to be an actor like me,’ says Bobby Deol

Bobby Deol is basking in the success of recently release Class of 83. And it seems, his golden run is unstoppable . After his splashing debut, the 51-year-old actor is now seen in director Prakash Jha’s web series Aashram in which he plays Baba Nirala, the godman-turned-conman. The show brings forth a different facet of Bobby on screen as this is the first time he is playing a negative character. In an exclusive interview with PeepingMoon.com, Bobby spoke about his character as well as the nepotism debate going on in Bollywood and whether he would like his sons Aryaman Deol and Dharam Deol joining the film industry.

Bobby’s elder son Aryaman already has an envious fan following on social media with numerous fan clubs dedicated to the young lad. When Bobby was asked whether he would like him to follow his footsteps and take the Deol family name forward in Hindi film industry, Bobby said, “I will never stop my sons from doing what they want to do professionally. As I said, I don’t let social media affect my mind and every individual has the right to do what they want. Right now, as a father as a parent, I want both my boys to study, understand things because jitna padhoge aapki samajh utni hi badhti hai. I want them to study, become graduates then decide what they want to do. I don’t influence them to be actors or I don’t influence them not to be actors. I just want them, whatever they do in their lives, I want them to succeed as every father wants and ideally people are talking about all those things about nepotism and insider/outsider, I will still not stop them from becoming an actor because every father wants their children to follow them in whatever profession they are in. That is always a dream.”

Bobby further added, “We love our profession so we want our kids to be in the same profession but sometimes children don’t want to be in the same profession. The biggest example is my father. His father was a teacher, he never wanted him to be an actor but my father became an actor. So, you never know, maybe my sons will become teachers. I know and am aware that my son has a lot of popularity on social media and I feel so proud about it that people are thinking about my sons this way. I just hope and pray that their love for my family and my sons give them the strength to do whatever they want to do in life.”

Even though Bobby aka Vijay Singh comes from a film family he has had his own struggles to find a place in the sun. However, his new web series has got him rave reviews that will definitely turn the tables for him.
