His comedy-horror Laxmmi Bomb is still months away from release, but Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar who plays a transgender in the film is already winning hearts in the differently sexually-oriented community. Laxmmi Bomb writer and director Raghava Lawrence proudly posted on his Facebook page this morning that Akshay was donating Rs. 1.5 crore to build the first transgender home in India. His Lawrence Charitable Trust was already involved in educational and medical projects for children. "In our 15th year we wanted to initiate a new project to uplift transgenders by providing shelter for them," Lawrence writes.

His trust had the land and they were looking to raise funds for the building. Says Lawrence, "During the Laxmmi Bomb shoot I was talking to Akshay Sir about the trust's projects and transgender’s home. Immediately and without even me asking, he said he would donate Rs. 1.5 core to build the transgender’s home."
