Exclusive: Not ‘Wanted 2’ – is Salman Khan making ‘Radhe’ for Eid 2020?

Radhe – that’s the title of the film that Salman Khan will reportedly be making in place of ‘Inshallah’ with Sanjay Leela Bhansali for Eid 2020. PeepingMoon.com has exclusively learned that the man probably going to helm this action film is Salman’s old friend from the South, Wanted director Prabhu Dheva.

This should end all speculation of the actor’s plans for Eid 2020 after Inshallah with SLB got scrapped due to creative differences between the filmmaker and him. The last rumour was that Salman, for whom Eid is a lucky date, was planning to postpone the release of Dabangg 3 from Christmas this year to Eid in 2020.

There was also speculation that ‘Bhai’ would start franchises of his earlier hits like Ready and Wanted and come out with a sequel of one of them for the date left open by Inshallah which was snapped up by Akshay Kumar for Laxmmi Bomb. And in a way, that speculation is almost true.

Radhe, according to a source, will technically be Wanted 2. Salman’s relations with the original 2009 producer of Wanted, that is Boney Kapoor, are not at all amicable since Malaika Arora split with his brother Arbaaz Khan and got into a relationship with Boney’s son Arjun Kapoor.

So rather than being perceived as having bowed to Boney for the title, Salman decided to make the Wanted 2 sequel but he would name it Radhe. Fans of the actor will remember that ‘Radhe’ was Salman’s badass character in Wanted. But ‘Radhe’ was just a front for IPS officer Rajveer Shekawat, his real avatar.

With this decision, Salman is back in the game for Eid 2020. He has no film in hand after Dabangg 3 and will get down to making Radhe after Diwali. Getting Prabhu Deva to direct the film is another way of telling the industry and his fans that his Eid 2020 release is going to be Wanted 2 in a new bottle.

Salman also played ‘Radhe’ in Satish Kaushik’s 2003 romantic drama Tere Naam. The film, based on a true story, had Bhumika Chawla in her Bollywood debut. The soundtrack had 12 numbers and outstanding music by Himesh Reshammiya and Sajid-Wajid. Kaushik had reportedly said then that he wanted to make a sequel. He is also believed to have registered the title Radhe and holds the rights. Was Radhe meant to be Tere Naam 2? There’s another twist: Kaushik and Boney are close friends. So has Salman convinced Kaushik to give him Radhe? Or there’s more to the name and story?
