Yash Raj Films launched Ranbir Kapoor's cousin Aadar Jain with Habib Faisal's prison-based musical drama Qaidi Band in 2017. However, the film came and went without anyone even realizing it and turned out to be the worst box office performer coming out from the Aditya Chopra banner ever. Two years after the shattering debacle of his first film, the son of Raj Kapoor's daughter Reema Jain is gearing towards his second inning in the film industry.
Peepingmoon.com has exclusively learned that Aadar Jain is being reintroduced to Bollywood by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani's Excel Entertainment. The production house has apparently signed him for a comedy film that will present him in a different light and plans to "re-launch" him with a proper marketing strategy on the place. The pre-production of the film has already begun and is expected to go on floors around July-August this year.
Although the details of the project haven't yet been revealed, the film, we heard, will be directed by Pankaj Saraswat. The husband of actress Tejaswini Kolhapure, this film marks the directorial debut for Pankaj who has previously helmed only TV comedy shows like The Great Indian Laughter Challenge, Gangs of Haseepur among others. Pankaj is also active as an actor and has featured in films like Paanch, Ab Tak Chhappan, Revolver Rani and the recent Hotstar Original series, Criminal Justice.
Excel Entertainment has previously launched actors like Mouni Roy and Sidhanth Chaturvedi with Reema Kagti's Gold (2018) and Zoya Akhtar's Gully Boy (2019) respectively. With Aadar in Excel's hands now, one hopes he makes it big this time and gets noticed for his act, something Yash Raj Films badly failed at. We are expecting the official announcement of the film in the coming weeks.
