Karan Johar is reportedly backing filmmaker Abhishek Varman’s next, titled Gadadhari Bheem, a superhero film rooted in Indian mythology. Varman has written and will direct the film, which is being produced by Dharma Productions.

As per sources, the script is locked and the makers are now gearing up to begin the casting process. The project is being envisioned as a one-of-a-kind superhero story, with the team looking to create a distinctly Indian take on the genre rather than a conventional superhero film.

Sources further reveal that Gadadhari Bheem is being mounted on a massive scale and a huge budget, with the makers planning it as a visual spectacle made for the big screen. The film is being developed as a tentpole theatrical experience, with its scale and treatment aimed at giving audiences a larger-than-life cinematic experience.

The project marks another collaboration between Varman and Dharma Productions. The filmmaker previously directed 2 States and Kalank for the banner, and is now stepping into the superhero space with a story rooted in Indian mythology.

With the script locked and casting expected to begin soon, Gadadhari Bheem is shaping up as an ambitious theatrical project from Dharma Productions, although further details about the cast and release timeline are currently being kept under wraps.
