Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan have put their faith in first-time director Akash A Kaushik with Udta Teer. While Sara said her experience of working with Akash was always fun and never made her question whether something would work, Ayushmann believes the filmmaker has brought a fresh approach to the film.

For Ayushmann, working with debut directors is not new. He pointed out that several of his successful and well-received films have come from first-time filmmakers, which gave him confidence while choosing Udta Teer. He described Akash as a strong, intelligent and powerful filmmaker and highlighted his FTII background and writing credits, including Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3.

The actor also said that what stood out to him about Udta Teer was its fresh treatment. He feels the comedy has a different flavour and believes Akash has brought something new to the film, which is why he has placed his trust in the director.

Sara, meanwhile, said there was never any doubt about working with Akash. She found the process easy and enjoyable, but her confidence in the project grew further after she learnt that Ayushmann had chosen the script.

For Sara, Ayushmann’s decision to come on board was itself a reassurance that the script had something worthwhile to offer. That made her choice to be part of Udta Teer even easier.

Udta Teer stars Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan in the lead, with Gulshan Grover, Rahul Bose, Ram Kapoor, Brijendra Kala, Mukul Dev and others in supporting roles. Written and directed by Akash A Kaushik, the film is produced by Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Guneet Monga Kapoor and Achin Jain under Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment. Udta Teer is scheduled to release in cinemas on October 9, 2026.
