ABUNDANTIA ENTERTAINMENT MARKS 13 YEARS OF DISRUPTIVE STORYTELLING, CREATOR-LED INNOVATION AND AUDIENCE-FIRST ENTERTAINMENT

Following a standout 2026, the studio enters its next phase with an ambitious content slate, expanded partnerships and aiON, its  AI-powered creative division.  Abundantia Entertainment, one of India’s leading content studios, marks its 13th anniversary in September this year, following a landmark 2026 that has reinforced the company’s distinctive position at the intersection of storytelling, creators, technology and audiences.

Founded by Vikram Malhotra in 2013, Abundantia has spent the last thirteen years building a studio around a simple but enduring philosophy: back differentiated stories, empower exceptional creators and build engaging entertainment around a deep understanding of the customer.

2026 has been among Abundantia’s strongest years yet, with multiple releases delivering both significant audience engagement and platform performance. Prime Video series Daldal, starring Bhumi Pednekar, held the No. 1 position in India for four consecutive weeks while featuring among the platform’s Top 10 titles across several international markets. Subedaar, directed by Suresh Triveni and starring Anil Kapoor, emerged as Prime Video India’s most-watched Hindi original film, while Netflix release Maa Behen, starring Madhuri Dixit, Triptii Dimri, Dharna Durga and Ravi Kishan, reached No. 2 globally amongst Netflix’s non-English films. For Abundantia, however, the significance of the year goes beyond individual titles.

Over thirteen years, Abundantia has developed a reputation for identifying ideas and creators early, creating an environment in which distinctive voices can flourish, and taking calculated creative risks across genres.

Its body of work has ranged from theatrical films such as Baby, Airlift, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, Ram Setu and Sukhee to streaming originals like Shakuntala Devi, Sherni, Jalsa, the Chhorii franchise and one of India’s earliest streaming successes, Breathe. Along the way, the company has also built one of the most sustained bodies of female-first storytelling in Indian entertainment, with women at the centre of several of its most acclaimed and widely watched stories.

A key tenet of Abundantia’s strategy has been to anticipate how audiences are changing and evolve with them. That philosophy is now firmly extending into technology.

Through aiON, its dedicated AI-powered creative division, Abundantia is exploring how generative AI can transform not only the process of content creation but the entire entertainment value chain — from consumer understanding and development to production, marketing and distribution.

Built on the philosophy “Human First, AI Empowered”, aiON is already developing a new generation of AI-enabled content and capabilities. In the works are ‘Chiranjeevi Hanuman: The Eternal’, a slate of hybrid films telling disruptive stories and a partnership with InVideo to create a slate of AI-powered films over the next two years.

At the centre of Abundantia’s next phase will remain the same stakeholder that has guided the company from the beginning: the audience. The studio is increasing its investment in consumer intelligence to better understand what audiences want, how they discover stories, where they choose to watch them and what drives engagement.

Vikram Malhotra, Founder & CEO, Abundantia Entertainment, said: “Thirteen years ago, we started Abundantia with the belief that great entertainment begins with understanding the audience and then giving exceptional storytellers the freedom and resources to delight them. That belief has only become stronger with time.

2026 has been a standout year for us, but what excites me most is not any single title or milestone. It is that the philosophy we have built the company around - disruptive stories, empowered creators, customer obsession, embracing change and an unwavering focus on creating value - continues to work across genres, formats and platforms.

One of the greatest sources of pride for me has been the privilege of partnering with some of the best-in-class companies, platforms and creators in the world throughout our journey. The trust of these partners has allowed us to take creative risks, build long-term relationships, like the one we have in Opening Image, and constantly raise the ambition of what we do.

And through aiON, we are beginning perhaps the most exciting chapter of our journey yet. AI will change many aspects of how entertainment is imagined, crafted, marketed and consumed. Our approach is clear: Human First, AI Empowered. Technology should amplify human imagination, enable creators to do things that were previously impossible and help us understand and serve audiences better.

Thirteen years in, I feel we have built a solid foundation. But in many ways, it feels like we are only getting started.” Abundantia’s next phase reflects that ambition.

The studio has a significant pipeline spanning theatrical and streaming films, series, franchises and AI-powered content. Upcoming projects include Family Business, a multi-season drama for Netflix directed by Hansal Mehta and starring Anil Kapoor and Vijay Varma; Sundar Poonam for Prime Video, directed by Pulkit and starring Sanya Malhotra; and Angre, a theatrical epic based on the life of Sarkhel Kanhojiraje Angre and directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Rajesh Mapuskar.

The company is also developing Jai Santoshi Mata: Sukh Sampatti Daata alongside several projects in development with filmmakers including Suresh Triveni, Rajesh Krishnan, Vishal Furia, Mayank Sharma, Bhav Dhulia, Palash Vaswani, Madhumita S and Anuj Dhawan.

As it enters its fourteenth year, the company remains anchored in the philosophy with which it began: put the audience first, back great creators, challenge convention and keep evolving.
