Sidharth Malhotra has crossed a new box-office benchmark with The Vvaan – Force of the Forrest. The fantasy-action entertainer has grossed 47.16 crore in its opening weekend, giving Malhotra his highest opening weekend for a film led solely by him, according to Bollywood Hungama. The number takes the film well past his previous solo-led weekend record, Param Sundari, which opened to 28.48 crore.

The trajectory has been noteworthy for the actor. After opening on Friday, the film saw its collections build through the weekend, with mass centres and non-national chains contributing to the momentum. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh has also pointed to the film’s performance in Tier 2 and Tier 3 centres and at single screens.

Trade analyst Joginder Tuteja, reacting to the opening, highlighted the actor’s loyal fanbase and linked the response to Malhotra’s action outings, including Ek Villain, Shershaah and Marjaavaan. He also pointed to the audience response to Malhotra’s dual avatar in The Vvaan, describing the opening as another consolidation of the actor’s position in the industry.

The weekend number gives that observation a box-office context. The Vvaan now stands as Malhotra’s third-highest opening weekend overall, behind Brothers and Ek Villain, both multi-starrers, while becoming his biggest weekend for a film carried solely by him.
