The relationship between Bollywood and the Chand(Moon) has always been a fascinating one. Hindi cinema has conveyed the essence of love through the "moon" with a beauty that is perhaps unmatched by any other symbol. At times, it has represented innocent affection; at others, unfulfilled longing; and sometimes, an emotion too profound to be captured in words.

From Chand Sifarish to Chandaniya and Chand Chhupa Badal Mein, Bollywood has, in every era, utilized the "moon" as the most exquisite language of romance. Chand Sifarish from Fanaa remains a chart-topper in the list of love songs to this day, while Chandaniya from 2 States lends a soft, soul-stirring quality to the romance of the modern generation. And then there is Chandni, a film that elevated the "Chand" from being merely a word to becoming the very emblem of an entire romantic era.

Interestingly, this love for the moon in Bollywood never feels dated, for romance in Hindi films is driven by genuine emotion rather than fleeting trends. Perhaps this is why, even today, whenever the word "Chand" is heard in a film or a song, it evokes a sense of familiarity and nostalgia.

Now, Ananya Panday and Lakshya’s Chand Mera Dil appear poised to carry this legacy forward in a fresh, contemporary style. While the film's title is nostalgic in itself, its narrative and presentation have been crafted specifically with today's youth in mind. The fresh pairing of Ananya and Lakshya has also emerged as one of the film's biggest highlights. Their chemistry has already generated a distinct buzz among young audiences even before the release, suggesting that this film is shaping up to be more than just a romantic drama, it promises to be a true reflection of the youthful spirit.

Presented by Dharma Productions, the film has been produced by Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Somen Mishra, and Marijke Desouza. Directed by Vivek Soni, this film is set to hit theaters worldwide on May 22, 2026.
