Vishesh Bhatt and Emraan Hashmi have created a frenzy with the announcement of the sequel to the cult film, Awarapan 2 releasing theatrically on 14th of August. The duo go a long way back and have delivered cult films, iconic music, and trendsetting moments over the years. Jannat is one such genre-bending landmark film set on the dark side of India’s most beloved sport, cricket.  It became a cultural phenomenon that went on to create record breaking box office numbers.

Speaking about 18 years of Jannat, producer Vishesh Bhatt shared, “Jannat was always a special film for us. At its heart, it was the story of a young man driven by ambition and instinct, whose life changes because of love. Audiences connected deeply with Arjun’s journey because it reflected a generation constantly chasing more, and I think that emotion still feels relevant even today.”

He further added, “The film continues to receive immense love even after 18 years because it stayed with audiences long after they left the cinema. With Awarapan 2 next we hope to bring back the same emotional soul and intensity that fans have loved in our cinema for years.”

The film also shattered the perception that cricket matches (IPL) demolishes theatrical releases, as it went on to achieve remarkable box office success despite the season.

With Awarapan 2 bringing Disha Patani on board and Vishesh Bhatt and Emraan Hashmi returning to the cult classic Awarapan franchise, anticipation only continues to grow, with fans eager to watch the film in theatres on 14th August, 2026.
