“Sushmita Sen made me believe that someone from where I come from could dream just as big”: Rashika Matharu’s Journey of Grit and Grace

Long before the arc lights, Rashika Matharu was a young girl with a dream shaped by resilience and belief. Studying at the same school as Sushmita Sen, she found inspiration not just in her success, but in her poise, confidence, and dignity.

“Watching Sushmita ji from the same school was surreal. It wasn’t just about her achievements, it was her aura, her confidence, her dignity, the way she carried herself. It made me believe that someone from where I come from could dream just as big,” she says.

Rashika's journey wasn’t overnight. Built on consistent effort and sheer willpower, Rashika navigated the demanding world of pageantry, where mental strength is as important as appearance. “Pageants test your confidence in unexpected ways. There were moments of self-doubt, but my willpower kept me going. I’m grateful to Glamour Gurgaon and the director Mrs Barkha Nangia, for giving a married woman like me this opportunity,” she shares.

Today, her journey comes full circle as she steadily carves her space in the industry, from Udaariyaan to Mr & Mrs Parshuram, and now Lakshmi Niwas. Reflecting quiet strength, growth, and an evolving creative path.
