Mukesh Khanna questions Ranbir Kapoor’s portrayal of lord Ram in Ramayan

Ranbir Kapoor is playing the role of Lord Ram in the much-awaited film Ramayan directed by Nitesh Tiwari. The first glimpse teaser released in July has increased the curiosity of the audience, but senior actor Mukesh Khanna, who played the role of Bhishma Pitamah in 'Mahabharata', has expressed his doubts about this character. In a conversation with Galata India, he said that he was about to react to the teaser, in which Ranbir as Ram is seen climbing a tree and shooting arrows. His team first thought that this scene was created by AI, but later it was found that it is a part of the official teaser.

Mukesh Khanna says that it is not appropriate to show Lord Ram as a warrior. According to him, Krishna or Arjun can climb a tree and shoot arrows, but Ram was Maryada Purushottam, not a warrior. If Ram considered himself a warrior, he would not have needed the help of monkeys. He warned that if Lord Ram is presented only as a warrior, then people will not accept it easily.

While acknowledging Ranbir's acting skills, Mukesh Khanna said that his previous imagelike in the film 'Animal'did not match the calm and idealistic nature of Ram. However, he also added that Ranbir may have given up his old habits now.

The film, produced by Namit Malhotra, will feature Sai Pallavi as Mata Sita, Ravi Dubey as Lakshman, Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman and Kannada superstar Yash as Raavan. The film will be released in two parts, the first on Diwali 2026 and the second on Diwali 2027.
