After Isha Talwar, TV actor opens up about casting director’s behaviour

Struggle and rejection are common in the world of Bollywood and TV, but there are some experiences that deeply affect the confidence of the artist. 'Bigg Boss 14' fame and actor Abhinav Shukla recently shared one such incident, which became a big lesson for him and also an inspiration for emerging artists.

This incident is from the year 2014, when Abhinav's film 'Roar' was on the verge of release. On the advice of friends, he met Yash Raj Films' casting director Shanoo Sharma. It was expected that this meeting would become the turning point of his career, but the result turned out to be the opposite. Shanoo clearly said that he looks good, but he does not have 'spark'. These words were going to hurt his confidence, but he did not give up. Abhinav continued to try to improve himself. Time took a turn and he met veteran director Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Here he got a completely opposite response. Bhansali praised his talent and asked why he had not done much work till now.

Bhansali also cast him in the film 'Inshallah', though the film later did not materialise. Nevertheless, the experience was very special for Abhinav. He learnt that not every rejection closes a door, but can open doors to new avenues. Before Abhinav, Isha Talwar, who has given strong performances in films like 'Mirzapur', 'Saas Bahu Aur Flamingo' and 'Article 15', also recalled a strange audition from her early days, which was taken by Shanoo Sharma. According to Isha, this audition also shook her confidence.
