Vijay Deverakonda appears before ED in Illegal online betting app case, Clarifies his stand

Actor Vijay Deverakonda is in the news these days for his film 'Kingdom', which is running in theaters. Meanwhile, he appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the alleged illegal online betting app case. According to news agency PTI, Vijay Deverakonda appeared on ED summons at the Basheerbagh office in Hyderabad on Wednesday morning. This case is related to the promotion of online betting games.

Just a few days ago, actor Prakash Raj also reached ED to record his statement in the same alleged betting app case. Talking to the media after coming out of the ED office, Vijay said, "This case is of money laundering related to betting apps and it is from 2016. On moral grounds, I did not pursue it and told the officials that I did not get any money from this work, as I did not want to earn from it. They have taken all the details and completed the inquiry. The officials are doing their job and as a citizen I should cooperate and answer their questions."

Vijay further clarified that there is no conspiracy or political motive in this. It is worth noting that earlier this year, Telangana Police had registered an FIR against 25 celebrities and social media influencers, including big names like Rana Daggubati and Lakshmi Manchu. It was alleged that these celebrities were promoting illegal betting apps on social media platforms, in return for which they were being paid huge amounts.

According to the complaint, these platforms encourage people to invest their hard-earned money in gambling. The FIR was registered at Miyapur police station in Hyderabad on the petition of a businessman.
