The buzz about ‘Dhadak 2’ that releases on Friday is reaching a crescendo high. Starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri, the film is a remake of the acclaimed Tamil movie ‘Pariyerum Perumal’. However, according to Triptii, director Shazia Iqbal took a fresh approach in crafting the story. In an exclusive conversation with PeepingMoon.com, Triptii revealed that the cast was deliberately kept away from the original source material to maintain authenticity in performance.
When asked if there was any pressure in remaking the Tamil hit, Triptii said, “Not really, Shazia tried to make the story a little different. She said do not take anything from ‘Pariyerum Perumal’ because I want the story to be fresh.” Triptii further shared how the director encouraged spontaneity. “She told us not to think too much about the characters. We never prepped for scenes during the workshops. She said just leave all of that aside, leave everything and let's do it as a fresh chapter. Just do what your heart says.”
Emphasizing the director’s focus on authenticity, Triptii added, “Shazia said it was very important for her to see the honesty in the actors. These characters needed to be real. I feel whatever she did worked well for us. Everyday felt like a challenge. We had to do something new.”
‘Dhadak 2’, directed by Shazia Iqbal and produced by Karan Johar along with Zee Studios, Cloud 9 Pictures and others, explores caste-based discrimination in India. The film promises to deliver a hard-hitting, emotional story with a fresh and raw treatment.
