₹38 Lakh fine on Amitabh and Aamir’s luxury cars, What’s the connection with ‘KGF babu’?

Bollywood stars Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan are in the news these days for a strange reason. Actually, Karnataka RTO has fined two luxury Rolls Royce cars registered in their names for not paying road tax. However, these cars no longer belong to these stars, but to Bengaluru businessman and politician Yusuf Sharif alias 'KGF Babu'.

It is being said that a Rolls Royce Phantom, which was previously owned by Amitabh Bachchan, and a Rolls Royce Ghost, which belonged to Aamir Khan, a total fine of 38.26 lakh has been imposed on these two cars. Tax of 18.53 lakh is due on the Phantom and 19.73 lakh on the Ghost. Both the vehicles are still registered in Maharashtra, but have been running in Karnataka for the last few years.

According to the rules of Karnataka, if a vehicle runs in the state for more than a year, then it is mandatory to re-register it at the local RTO and pay road tax. But KGF Babu neither paid the tax nor got the vehicles transferred in his name. This is the reason why even today these vehicles are registered in the name of Amitabh and Aamir in the RTO records.

The Transport Department has confirmed that the vehicles are being actively used and this action has been taken due to violation of rules. Now it remains to be seen what explanation Yusuf Sharif gives in this matter.
