Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi's elder son and well-known actor-singer M.K. Muthu died today. 77-year-old M.K. Muthu breathed his last due to age-related illnesses. He was the elder brother of the state's current Chief Minister M.K. Stalin. His death has been confirmed by the family. M.K. Muthu was a famous personality of Tamil cinema, who earned fame in both acting and singing.
According to government sources, M.K. Muthu's body will be kept at his residence in Gopalapuram, Chennai for the last rites. It is reported that the process of his funeral will be completed this evening. Chief Minister M.K. Stalin expressed deep condolences on the demise of his elder brother. He said, “The news of the demise of my dear elder brother M.K. Muthu, who was the eldest son of the Kalaignar family, came as a big shock to me this morning. He always took care of me like a parent and showered affection on me. His passing away is an irreparable loss for me.”
Many political and film personalities are arriving to pay tribute to M.K. Muthu. Deputy Chief Minister and Stalin's son Udhayanidhi Stalin is also present in this hour of grief.
M.K. Muthu entered the acting world in the 1970s. He played a double role in his first film 'Pillaiyo Pillai', which was highly appreciated by the audience. After this, he worked in many memorable films like 'Pookkari', 'Samayalkaran' and 'Anaya Vilakku'. Along with acting, he was also a great singer. He sang many popular songs in his career which are still on the lips of Tamil cinema lovers.
