7th July is a very special day for Indian music lovers, because on this day in the year 1973, a voice was born in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, which later gave a new identity to Indian music all over the world. This voice is of Kailash Kher, who is celebrating his 52nd birthday today. Many people face ups and downs in life, but there are some people who struggle with their strength and build their identity from it. Kailash Kher is one of them.
He had a deep passion for music since childhood. But when his passion was not understood in the family, he left home at the age of just 14. Leaving Meerut, he reached Delhi, where his real struggle began. Without any acquaintance, no support, no destination was clear. To earn a living, he started a small export business, but he suffered huge losses in it. This loss was not only financial but also started breaking him mentally and emotionally. Tired of these circumstances, he went to Rishikesh and thought of taking sanyaas. He was so broken inside that he decided to end his life by jumping into the river Ganga. But God had something else in store. A stranger saved him and perhaps that day his life took a new turn. He later shared this in an interview.
While living in Delhi, he got acquainted with some people who were associated with the film industry. It was because of their inspiration that he came to Mumbai, but the struggle here was no less. Wandering from studio to studio, waiting for work and surviving on vada pav and tea to fill the stomach - these were the days when only courage and passion were supporting him. Then one day a friend from Delhi introduced him to composer Ram Sampat, who used to compose jingles for advertisements. From here Kailash Kher's journey moved in a new direction. He has sung more than 300 jingles for brands like 'Pepsi', 'Colgate', 'Seagram', 'IPL'.
In the year 2003, the song 'Rabba Ishq Na Hove' in the film 'Andaaz' got him recognition in Bollywood for the first time. After this, 'Allah Ke Bande' made him popular in every household. Songs like 'Teri Deewani', 'Saiyaan', 'Bum Lahari' took him to a special place where it takes no time for anyone to recognize his voice. Today Kailash Kher has sung in 18 languages and has lent his voice to more than 300 Bollywood songs. He has played the role of judge in many reality shows and has also guided many new artists with his experience. In the year 2009, he married Sheetal Kher and their son's name is Kabir Kher. His family life is as calm and stable as his musical journey is energetic and inspiring.
Kailash Kher has received many prestigious awards for his musical contributions, but the biggest honour he received was in the year 2017 when he was awarded the 'Padma Shri' by the Government of India. This was not just an honour for his art, but for his passion and soul in music. Kailash Kher's story is not just about a singer, but about a person who fell again and again and learned to stand up again, and never gave up. Today, as he celebrates his 52nd birthday, we wish him all the best that his journey continues to be full of music and inspiration. Happy Birthday Kailash Kher ji. May your voice always resonate in our hearts.
