From Hero to Anti-Hero: Rajkummar Rao Turns Baddie in Maalik

Rajkumar Rao, who is known for his simple, sensitive and realistic characters till now, has now appeared in a completely changed avatar. His looks from his upcoming film ‘Maalik’ testifies that this time the audience will get to see his most violent, blood-soaked and terrifying avatar.

Rajkumar started his career with a daring film like ‘Love Sex Aur Dhokha’ and then proved his brilliant acting skills in films like ‘Shahid’, ‘Newton’, ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’, ‘Stree’ and ‘Bheed’. He is counted among those select actors who put their soul into every character and bring any script to life with their acting. Every time he has made the audience realize that acting is not just about speaking dialogues, but about living the character with full sensitivity. Now in ‘Maalik’ he will be seen in the role of a ruthless mafia don. The teaser itself begins with a horrifying scene in which he brutally kills a man with a shovel and then sets him on fire with firecrackers. After this, his powerful dialogue, “Maalik paida nahi hue to kya hua, ban to sakte hain,” makes the theme of the film clear, it is the story of a common man who wants to establish his supremacy in the world of crime.

Along with Rajkumar, Manushi Chillar and Bengali cinema superstar Prosenjit Chatterjee will also be seen in important roles in the film. The film is set in the backdrop of Allahabad and brings forth the world of power, loyalty and deception. It is directed by Pulkit, who has previously made acclaimed projects like 'Bose: Dead/Alive' and 'Bhakshak'. It is produced by Kumar Taurani and Jay Shewakramani and the film will be released in theatres on 11th July 2025.
