The duo of Bollywood and South Industry's veteran actor Kamal Haasan and director Mani Ratnam made a comeback after 37 years with the film 'Thug Life'. After 'Nayakan', the audience had high expectations from this film. It was believed that this film would break all the records at the box office. But within a week of its release, the film's charm has faded and its game at the box office is almost over.
The film had a great start on the first day, earning Rs 15.5 crore. But from the second day itself, the film's earnings started declining. On the second day, it earned Rs 7.15 crore, on the third day Rs 7.75 crore, on the fourth day Rs 6.5 crore, on the fifth day Rs 2.3 crore and on the sixth day only Rs 1.8 crore.
Now on the seventh day i.e. Wednesday, according to initial reports, the film has collected only Rs 1.25 crore. In this way, the total seven-day box office collection of the film has reached only Rs 42.25 crore.
Made on a huge budget of around Rs 200 crore, the film has so far recovered only 20 to 22 percent of its cost. Due to the lukewarm response in theaters, the shows of 'Thug Life' have been reduced and now the producers are pinning their hopes on its OTT release. It is believed that the film will stream on Netflix after four weeks. Big stars like Trisha Krishnan and Silambarasan TR appeared in the film along with Kamal Haasan, but even star power could not save the film at the box office.
