Popular actress of the 90s Mamta Kulkarni is once again in the news. In this year's Mahakumbh, Mamta was given the title of Mahamandaleshwar by the Kinnar Akhara, after which there was a lot of controversy. Seeing the protest increasing, Mamta finally resigned from this post. Now recently Mamta Kulkarni was spotted at the airport, where she spoke to the media and recalled the time when she was made Mahamandaleshwar.
Mamta Kulkarni said, "My becoming Mahamandaleshwar in Mahakumbh was God's complete plan. That holy Mahakumbh came after 140 years. God was giving me the fruits of my 25 years of penance and that is what happened." She further said that she has been living as a Sadhvi for the last 25 years. Mamta Kulkarni has earlier said in one of her interviews that she has completely said goodbye to the film industry. She had said, “I have been away from the film world for the last 25 years, but people still question things related to me. When I was given the title of Mahamandleshwar, many people, even some Shankaracharyas, objected. But the name of the guruji under whose guidance I did penance is Chaitanya Gagangiri Maharaj. He was a great saint and I have done rigorous sadhana for 25 years under his supervision. Now everyone is objecting.”
If we talk about Mamta's film career, she worked in many hit films in the 90s. Her beauty and dance were much talked about in that era. Her presence in films like 'Tiranga', 'Baazi', 'Krantiveer', 'Karan Arjun' and 'Ghaatak' was well liked by the audience. Today, even though Mamta Kulkarni is living the life of a sadhvi away from the world of glamour, whenever her name comes up, a glimpse of her old filmy days gets refreshed in people's memories.
