Abida Parveen's instagram account blocked in India amidst Pahalgam terror attack

After the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir last month, the Indian government has taken a tough stand and banned the social media accounts of many Pakistani artists. The name of famous Sufi singer Abida Parveen has also been included in this list. When visiting her Instagram profile in India, this message appears: "This account is not available in India. We have complied with the legal request to restrict this content".

Abida Parveen is appreciated in both India and Pakistan for her Sufi songs. Her famous songs include 'Tu Jhoom', 'Main Naraye Mastana', 'Parda Daari', 'Chhap Tilak' and 'Aaka'. She has also given many performances in India and her music is well liked here.

As part of this ban, Instagram accounts of several other Pakistani actors have also been blocked in India, including Hania Aamir, Mahira Khan, Ali Zafar, Ayeza Khan, Iqra Aziz, Fawad Khan, Atif Aslam and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. These actors have a huge fan following in India and the ban on their social media accounts has disappointed their fans.

Fawad Khan's upcoming Bollywood film 'Abir Gulaal', starring Vaani Kapoor, has also been banned from releasing in India. The film was supposed to be Fawad's comeback to Bollywood, but now its release has become uncertain.

These steps by the Indian government are being seen in view of the growing tensions with Pakistan and security concerns. Although there has been no official statement on these bans, it is clear that the Indian government is taking a tough stand on digital content related to Pakistan.
