Ramayan: Sunil Lahri says Ranbir Kapoor as Ram is difficult for people to accept

Sunil Lahri says he is sceptical about how the audience will accept Ranbir Kapoor in the role of Lord Ram in the upcoming Nitesh Tiwari’s directorial ‘Ramayan’. Ever since the initial announcement by the makers, audience have been in anticipation for the updates about the film. Whereas Ranbir and Sai Pallavi have been announced to star in the film, there have been reports of other actors joining the film as well including Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Lara Dutta and others. However, there has been no confirmation about the same. A while ago, the pictures of Ranbir and Sai were also leaked online while they were shooting for the film which received much appreciation from the audience.

Sunil, who played the role of Laxman in the original mythological project in a recent interview spoke about the film. Although he admitted that Ranbir is a fine actor, he said he doesn’t believe audience will be able to accept him in the role of Ram after his recent film ‘Animal’. He also agreed that the actor will definitely do the justice to the role but his acceptance is questionable.

He said,  "I'm sure he will do
justice, but again, it is the perception of people that you can't change. He has to crush his earlier performances and come out with this. And especially, after doing something like Animal recently, it will be very difficult for people to see him in such an opposite role as Lord Ram."

He also added that he doesn’t agree with casting Sai in the role of Sita. "But, looks wise, I am honestly not very convinced. In my mind, Sita has a very beautiful and perfect-looking face, and I don't think Sai's face has that perfection.”

He added, "I don't know how they are going to make this
actress look that attractive that Raavan would fall for her.”

For the unversed, Ranbir most recently starred in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s directorial ‘Animal’. The film also starred Bobby Deol, Triptii Dimri, Rashmika Mandanna and Anil Kapoor in the lead and got a massive response from the audience. Ranbir was portrayed in a violent role and the film included a lot of action sequences filled with violence which was also pointed out by several people. Despite, the film became one of the top releases of the last year with its collection.
