The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures is set to pay homage to the rich musical tapestry of Indian cinema with a special event honoring three iconic films: 'RRR' (2022), 'Slumdog Millionaire' (2008), and 'Lagaan' (2001.

Scheduled for Saturday, May 18, at 6:30 pm, the event promises to captivate attendees with live tabla and dance performances by Bollypop and Sadubas, offering their unique reinterpretation of the music from all three movies.

Among the highlights is the Academy Award-winning track 'Naatu Naatu' from 'RRR,' directed by S.S Rajamouli, which took home the prestigious Best Song award at the 2023 Oscars.

'Lagaan,' the timeless tale of resilience set against the backdrop of British colonial India, and 'Slumdog Millionaire,' the riveting saga of a Mumbai street kid's extraordinary journey, will also be celebrated for their musical brilliance.

The latter, directed by Danny Boyle, swept the Oscars in 2009, with AR Rahman's mesmerizing score earning him the accolades for Best Original Score and Best Original Song for 'Jai Ho.'

As cinephiles prepare to indulge in the melodies and rhythms that have defined Indian cinema, the Academy Museum's tribute promises to be a captivating celebration of the artistry and innovation that continue to shape the global cinematic landscape.
