Kapkapiii: Butchering horror-comedy genre with Tusshar Kapoor and Shreyas Talpade!

The country's obsession with horror-comedies and supernatural thrillers has given Bollywood some of the finest films. Over the years, eminent filmmakers have displayed their creative ability to spin engaging narratives around the paranormal and added bouts of humour to balance the fear. There's a lot to admire, from the Bhool Bhulaiyaa franchise to the Stree universe.

On Friday, a new horror-comedy was announced. Titled Kapkapiii, the film stars Tusshar Kapoor and Shreyas Talpade in an ensemble of unknown and lesser popular faces. The motion poster was launched across platforms, offering nothing but chuckles. With a shady background score and laughable motion graphics, Kapkapiii appears to be nowhere close to the title's literal meaning, shivers.

Kapkapiii's motion poster features Tusshar and Shreyas along with the rest of the cast. The expressionless faces of the actors show how disinterested they are in acting. The one-toned smile of Tusshar is enough to urge the audience to keep themselves away from the horrific experience of watching the film. Shreyas hasn't had a great record either.

If global cinema lovers observe closely, then Kapkapiii might remind you of the Malayalam film, Romancham. While all lauded Jithu Madhavan’s debut film, the Sangeeth Sivan-helmed Hindi project promises to be a bad rehash.

Is Kapkapiii needed? Well, it doesn't seem so as Bollywood has seen far better and more engaging horror-comedies with stellar teams and unique plots.
