Star-Studded Lineup Announced for IPL 2024 Opening Ceremony: Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff, AR Rahman, and Sonu Nigam to Take Center Stage!

The Chepauk Stadium in Chennai is all set to host the star-studded opening ceremony of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 on March 22. With luminaries like Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff, AR Rahman, and Sonu Nigam slated to perform, it promises to be an unforgettable event buzzing with excitement.

 

On the official IPL account on X, the announcement for the opening ceremony lineup is made with a tweet: "With the stage set, lights ablaze, and stars poised to dazzle, the TATA IPL 2024 opening ceremony promises an electrifying fusion of cricket and entertainment! Don't miss out on this stellar lineup! March 22nd, from 6:30 pm onwards."

In addition, they shared posters confirming performances by Akshay, Tiger, Rahman, and Sonu for the event. The inaugural match will witness Chennai Super Kings facing off against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Notably, last year's opening ceremony featured Rashmika Mandanna, Tamannaah Bhatia, and singer Arijit Singh. During the event, a viral video surfaced of Rashmika dancing to "Jimikki Ponnu" in her green room.

A source disclosed to Hindustan Times that Rahman and Sonu are set to perform patriotic songs alongside Bollywood hits at the IPL opening ceremony. Providing insight into the event's duration, the source mentioned, "The entire show, featuring Akshay and Tiger's acts, will run for approximately 30 minutes. Sonu and Rahman will collaborate on renditions of popular Bollywood tracks." Furthermore, they added, "In addition to the musical performances, an innovative AR (Augmented Reality) technology display, a first for the opening ceremony, will be a major highlight."

Currently, Akshay and Tiger are collaborating on the film "Bade Miyan Chote Miyan," helmed by director Ali Abbas Zafar. This venture also features Prithviraj Sukumaran, Sonakshi Sinha, Manushi Chhillar, Alaya F, and Ronit Bose Roy in pivotal roles. Co-scripted by Aditya Basu, the movie is scheduled for release on April 10. Rahman, meanwhile, has composed music for upcoming projects such as "Aadujeevitham - The Goat Life," "Amar Singh Chamkila," and "Maidaan," which are awaiting release. Additionally, he's been enlisted for Ram Charan's next project alongside Janhvi Kapoor.
