Agastya Nanda says he didn’t know of grand-father Amitabh Bachchan’s popularity until he visited his school: That’s when I realized

Agastya Nanda made his debut with Zoya Akhtar's directorial The Archies  which also featured Suhana Khan, Khushi Kapoor, Vedang Raina and Aditi Dot in the lead last year. In one of the recent interviews, he went on to talk about his grandfather Amitabh Bachchan and said that he was unaware of his popularity until the actor visited his school. Agastya said, “The way my family has been, they don’t bring work home. My nana never spoke about work at home. So, I found it very normal. I thought, ‘Okay, he’s a normal granddad,’ but I only realised when he came to school on annual day that, ‘Oh god, he is someone.’ It was so normal up till then.”

He continued, “We had grandparents day in school in Delhi. When he’d show up, everyone would go crazy and I just couldn’t understand why everyone was going crazy. That’s when I realised. And then, of course, when I started watching cinema, I was like, ‘Okay, he’s kind of good at this.”

Agastya further talked about his debut and love for films. He said, “I always liked cinema, but close to Archies, I started loving it. This is something I did purely from heart. I’m so grateful to have got this opportunity without having to do acting school and all that. I probably didn’t deserve it. If I can do this with my heart, now, if I add skill and craft with time, this can become something that I really enjoy and love.”

Agastya's debut film The Archies released on December 7. As per the reports he will next be seen in Sriram Raghavan's directorial Ekkis.
