Vicky Kaushal, Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Shaikh's biopic, Sam Bahadur, is witnessing an upward growth at the box office due to positive word of mouth. Directed by Meghna Gulzar, the film traces the journey of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw. Vicky plays the titular role whereas Sanya plays his wife, and Fatima plays Silloo and Indira Gandhi.
The first half of Sam Bahadur acts like a building block that creates the foundation for interesting developments. In the second half, the story delves into the political side of Sam's life. The Field Marshal's interactions with the Prime Minister highlight the film. Infusing humour even in the most tense moments, Vicky and Fatima draw attention to the human side of the characters. Not to forget the intense discussions behind closed doors.
As Sam and Indira, Vicky and Fatima's effortlessness shone brightly. Their proximity is within professional boundaries but a spark can also be seen between them. Director Meghna certainly brought out the best from her actors.
Sam Bahadur released on December 1, 2023. Despite competition from Animal at the box office, the biopic is performing extremely well and continues to draw the audience to theatres.
