Jolly LL.B 2 to Padman and Good Newwz, looking at Akshay Kumar's socio-dramas that served entertainment with a message ahead of OMG 2

Akshay Kumar is among those rare actors who know how to blend entertainment with the right dose of social message without getting preachy. Through small-town stories, he has been winning the hearts of a large audience. As he tackles relevant issues on celluloid, it is the audience that gets benefitted, edutainment-wise.

Now, as his upcoming film, OMG 2 is up for a release on August 11, let's look at 5 films of Akshay that dealt with a social message but with a dash of humour. For the unversed, OMG 2 also has a message embedded in it.

OMG

Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal's OMG is still remembered for all the right reasons. It dealt with the topic of superstition. The film revolved around a businessman who challenged God in court.

The State vs. Jolly LL.B 2

Akshay Kumar's Jolly LL.B 2 was a sharp take against corruption, suicide and a lot of other topics. It remains one of his most underrated and finest films with a relevant social message.

Toilet: Ek Prem Katha

Toilet: Ek Prem Katha was a marriage of humour and message. Akshay Kumar teamed with Bhumi Pendekar to spread the word about sanitation and teach people the importance of having an independent toilet for defecation purposes.

Padman

Padman was a biopic of Arunachalam Muruganantham, a social activist and entrepreneur from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu who made low-cost sanitary pads for women in rural areas. It won a National Award in 2019 for Best Film on Other Social Issues.

Good Newwz

Good Newwz was an emotional story based on IVF. Starring Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Diljit Dosanjh and Kiara Advani, it was a delightful yet sentimental watch. The Raj Mehta directorial was successful at the box office too.

We cannot wait to see what unfolds in OMG 2 which also stars Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam.
