The world knew Shah Rukh Khan as the ultimate romantic hero with his twinkling melt-your-hearts eyes, dimpled smile and outstretched arms all ready to engulf you in an embrace that will bring you home. However, he successfully broke the mould with his action avatar in Pathaan. Now, keeping up with his action hero image, Shah Rukh can be seen kicking ass in a new advertisement for a leading soft drink brand in which he is seen performing stunts similar to the ones he did in Pathaan.
The advertisement was shared on Instagram by director Vinil Mathew who also makes a cameo in the commercial. In the over one-minute video, SRK, dressed in all black, thrashes goons, lunges out of a window to grab on to a helicopter and kicks up a storm, all to get his hands on his favourite drink. The commercial breaks the fourth wall to reveal that the superstar is on sets with director Vinil, who tells him that a stuntman can take over the scenes while he can relax but SRK declines the offer.
Vinil shared the video with the caption, “It took a while to realise that @beatnikbob5 wasn’t pranking me, when he called up one day to ask if I could act in his next Thums up commercial with Shahrukh. Only a mad man or a genius could think of such a reckless casting, but we all know that Bob is a mix of both. Anyway as things go in advertising -with multiple levels of approvals, I was sure this train wreck of an idea would get tripped and pretty much expected an awkward call from producer @robindcruz7 saying that “SRK’s dates have moved..we will get back to you” But we live in strange times.@rituriaan Sukesh Nayak… what were you smoking.???. All the mythical stories about Bob’s shoots turned out to be true! It was like an extended wrap party where some kickass work got done easy peasy. “Just play yourself”.. Bob kept reminding me, when I tried some overacting stunts . “but the real me is a nervous, anxious sweatball”-I protested Bob calmy smiled “ that’s the brief!” Alas! the world knows now! Hopefully we have parked the car safely and both our careers will survive this. Please watch the whole masterpiece. It’s safe to say that SRK is going to light up television screens as well with this new advertisement just like he is doing at the box office with Pathaan currently.
