Mahesh Bhatt refutes reports of going through a heart surgery, says 'I am alive and kicking'

Mahesh Bhatt has clarified that he recently underwent an angioplasty and not a heart surgery, as claimed in several media reports. The director, who is currently back home and recuperating, spoke to the leading daily and updated about his health conditions. While various media reports suggested that Mahesh underwent heart surgery post his check-up at a hospital, the filmmaker-producer claimed that he just had an angioplasty, which is a common bloodless procedure.

While talking about the same, he said, “A surgery is where they use the knife. Angioplasty is a common bloodless procedure. It takes a half hour and a mandatory stay in the ICU and then one is discharged the next day.”

Mahesh, who was admitted to the H.N Reliance Hospital, further shared that his procedure was scheduled for January 16 but during the routine check-ups, the doctors had raised the red flag. “My procedure was planned for Jan 16. It was during a routine body check-up that the doctors raised a ‘red flag’ and suggested that, since I am in good health, we must take a pre-emptive step and deal with this,” he added.

“I was in the hands of the best of the best team of doctors at the H.N Reliance Hospital. The procedure was on January 16. I was home on January 18. I am alive and kicking," Mahesh concluded.
