Recently, there were reports of actress Veena Kapoor being murdered by her son at her residence in Juhu. However, now it has come to light that the senior actress is alive and the news of her demise is untrue. Calling it a case of name mix-up, she and her son filed an FIR against those who were behind spreading false rumours. In her statement to the Mumbai police, she clarified that the woman who was murdered was a different Veena.
Talking to a media agency, Veena told, "This is false news. The truth is there was a Veena Kapoor she has been murdered. But I am not that Veena Kapoor and I'm a different person. The name is the same but I stay here in Goregaon, not Juhu. I also stay with my son so that's why people thought that this is the Veena Kapoor."

She further told her fans, "I want to tell them that I'm alive, well, and not dead. Don't believe in fake news." Reacting to the reports of her demise, Veena's son told, "I was numb and blank. We have filed an FIR (shows the document). The police have supported us really well. I appreciate it from my heart. The way they have helped us when we came to file the complaint, salute to Mumbai Police."
Veena also shared, "If we don't complain now then the same thing will be repeated later with others also. The mental torture that's happening with repeated calls, day and night, even while shooting ruins the mood. I'm also unable to focus on work."
According to reports, the Mumbai police registered a non-cognisable case for defamation on the complaint of the actress who stated that her photograph was used in a news report instead of the person who was murdered.
A woman named Veena Kapoor was killed by her son Sachin in Juhu and disposed her body near Matheran with the help of their domestic help. As per police officials, the murder was committed due to an ongoing property dispute in the family. Sachin was fighting a case against his mother in court over their property.
