Deepika Padukone quashes rumours of a rift with hubby Ranveer Singh on Meghan Markle’s podcast Archetypes

Deepika Padukone has indirectly quashed the rumours of a rift in her marital life with Ranveer Singh. The actress featured on the Spotify-exclusive podcast, ‘Archetype with Meghan' hosted by Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex. Deepika for the first time rubbished rumours of hitting a rough patch in her marriage with Ranveer after a viral tweet started tongues wagging.

During her conversation with Meghan on mental health of which Deepika has been an active proponent, she said, “It’s (mental health) the same way we have physical ailments. Our mind is very much a part of our body. But somehow, when it comes to mental illness, we start treating our minds like outside of our bodies. There’s two parts to this. One is, I think, where people struggle the most, especially in India, where there’s so much stigma attached to mental illness – creating awareness. Most of us don’t even know that we’re struggling with mental illness. And second, if we are to destigmatize it, to let people know that it’s okay to seek help and to let caregivers know that it’s okay for someone to go through this.”

Showering praise on her family which has been a critical support for her, Deepika said, “Today it’s all about the little things, like hugging my sister or just late-night conversations with my husband – those are the moments that really fill me up today”. This is the first time Deepika has spoken about Ranveer after the tiff reports started circulating in the media.

However, Ranveer had earlier addressed the rumours at FICCI Frames fast-track event where he spoke about celebrating 10 years with Deepika in 2022 as they started dating in 2012. Deepika’s comments come on the episode The Decoding of Crazy with Deepika Padukone, Jenny Slate and Constance Wu with Meghan, where the guests dissect the stigma surrounding the stereotype and the silence that abounds around mental health issues.
