Karan Johar calls 'Bollywood bashing' trend 'nonsense', feels there is 'need create the right content'

Karan Johar has once again given Bollywood a blockbuster. His family entertainer Jug Jugg Jeeyo has been declared one of the top grossers of 2022 and the film continues to win hearts on Amazon Prime Video and theatres too. While trolls are celebrating the failure of big-budget Bollywood films and believing the Hindi cinema industry is dead, Karan called this perception 'nonsense'.

In an interview with a media agency, the filmmaker reacted, "It's all nonsense and rubbish. Good films will always work. Gangubai Kathiawadi and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 have done huge numbers. We have done numbers on Jug Jugg Jeeyo as well. Films which aren't good can never work and they've never worked."

He further stated that there is a need to create the right content. "Now we have many big films coming up. We have Laal Singh Chaddha, Raksha Bandhan, Brahmastra, then there is Rohit Shetty's film and finally, we are ending the year with a Salman Khan film. There's so much to look forward to. We have all the love, we just need to create the right content to create it," Karan shared.

Karan is currently shooting for the seventh season of Koffee With Karan. He is also directing Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh in Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani
