Ayan Mukerji defends 'Love Storiya' in Brahmastra's song Kesariya, says 'it's not like elaichi in biryani'

Ayan Mukerji gave fans a Sunday surprise by releasing the first song from his film Brahmastra titled Kesariya. The romantic number is picturised on Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt and is shot in Varanasi, including the Kashi Vishwanath temple. Kesariya has been trending since then. However, a section of people wasn't pleased with the lyrics 'Love Storiya' in the song. Reacting to the trolling and meme fest, Ayan told in an interview that it was a 'fun twist'.

"We put it with a lot of love, we found it very interesting. We did not find it like elaichi, we thought it was a twist like bahut shakkar me thoda namak jab aata hai, uska ek maza, ek swaad hai (it's not like a cardamon in biryani, its like salt amid too much sugar, it has its own taste). Because the film is a modern film and the lyrics of the song are so traditional and simple, and this would have been a fun twist. I still feel that in some time, people will actually start enjoying it even more," Ayan told a radio channel.

Ranbir, who plays the role of Shiva in Brahmastra, reacted to the meme fest at Shamshera's event in Delhi. Defending Kesariya, he said, "No, it’s great! See listen, we as filmmakers and artists create something and it is up to the audience to receive it how they do. We are very excited about the song and it’s got a lot of love. Today, memes and trolling is all part of life and it’s fine as long as people enjoy the song, Pritam’s music and Arijit Singh’s singing. I want them to enjoy my chemistry with Alia and that’s what the endeavour is."

Kesariya is composed by Pritam, written by Amitabh Bhattacharya and sung by Arijit Singh.
