I step back: Akshay Kumar apologises for endorsing pan masala brand, decides to 'contribute endorsement fee towards a worthy cause'

When it comes to discipline and leading a healthy lifestyle, people look up to none other than Akshay Kumar. Over the years, Akshay has played a key role in helping people get rid of unhealthy and toxic habits. However, his fans were left disappointed when many noticed that the superstar was on board to promote a product produced by a pan masala brand. Realising this, Akshay issued a statement and apologised to all his well-wishers.

In a statement on social media, the superstar announced his decision to step back from the endorsement. "I'm sorry. I would like to apologise to you, all my fans and well-wishers. Your reaction over the past few days has deeply affected me. While I have not and will not endorse tobacco, I respect the outpouring of your feelings in light of my association with Vimal Elaichi. With all humility, I step back," Akshay wrote.

He further added, "I have decided to contribute the entire endorsement fee towards a worthy cause. The brand might continue airing the ads till the legal duration of the contract that is binding upon me, but I promise to be extremely mindful in making my future choices. In return, I shall forever continue to ask for your love and wishes."
