Ranbir Kapoor-Alia Bhatt wedding: Groom-to-be sets aside Rs 1 lakh for joota chupai rasam; orders custom-made wedding band as gift for his bride

With mere days left for Ranbir Kapoor’s and Alia Bhatt’s highly-anticipated wedding, details about various rituals have started trickling in. The pre-wedding festivities are supposedly going to kickstart today with the couple’s close family and friends in attendance. Now, the latest report is that Ranbir has set aside a hefty sum for his ‘joota chupai’ rasam. Reportedly, the actor has kept aside a sum of Rs 1 lac for his bride-to-be Alia’s sisters and friends.

As per a leading daily, Ranbir has kept aside a sum of Rs 1 lakh for the joota chupai rasam. A source told the daily, “Mostly Alia’s girl gang will be in charge of stealing Ranbir’s shoes. A budget of one lakh has been kept aside for the same.”

The joota chupai rasam is a fun ritual where the bride’s sisters and friends try to steal the groom’s shoes. In order to get back his footwear, the groom has to pay money to his sisters-in-law as well as whatever they may demand. Negotiations, debates and fun arguments arise where both the parties try to come to a mutual conclusion. The bride tribe will probably consist of Alia’s sister Shaheen Bhatt and her BFFs Akansha and Anushka Ranjan Kapoor, among others.

The report also added that Alia and Ranbir have not opted for mehendi artists and photographers that have been in the news for other celeb weddings. According to a news portal, Ranbir plans on gifting a custom-made wedding band to Alia that comprises of 8 diamonds that were hand-picked by him.
