Veteran singer and music composer Bappi Lahiri passes away at the age of 69

Veteran singer and music composer Bappi Lahiri, born as Alokesh Lahiri, passed away at Mumbai's CritiCare Hospital on Tuesday night. He was 69 years old. According to the doctor at CritiCare, Bappi Da was suffering from multiple health issues and was admitted to the hospital for a month. Though he was discharged on Monday, his condition deteriorated on Tuesday.

In a statement to the media, the hospital told, "Bappi Lahiri was suffering from OSA- Obstructive Sleep Apnea and recurrent chest infection. He was treated by Dr. Deepak Namjoshi. He was hospitalised in Criticare Hospital, Juhu for 29 days with this. He recovered well and was discharged home on 15 February. However, after a day at home, his health again deteriorated and he was brought back to Criticare hospital Juhu in a critical state and succumbed to his illness at about 11:45 pm. He suffered from Covid infection last year. He had OSA for the last 1 year. He was admitted on multiple occasions to Criticare Hospital under treatment of Dr. Deepak Namjoshi and recovered on all occasions. He was taken to some other hospital but had already passed away."

In April 2021, Bappi Da had tested positive for COVID-19. Back then, his son Bappa Lahiri revealed that the singer and composer was suffering from lung problem too.
