India's Writing with Fire, based on Dalit women journalists, makes it to Oscars 2022 in Best Documentary Feature category

On Tuesday, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences released the list of nominations for the 94th Academy Awards. While Suriya's Jai Bhim and Mohanlal's Marakkar: Lion of the Arabian Sea failed to make it to Oscars 2022, India still has a reason to celebrate.

Directors Rintu Thomas and Sushmit Ghosh’s Writing with Fire has been selected for Oscars 2022 in the Best Documentary Feature category. It is about the story of Khabar Lahariya, a newspaper run by Dalit women journalists. Writing with Fire orbits around the chief reporter and crime reporter who cover news in some of the country's most troubled regions.
