Gurdas Maan reaches Jaipur, says he is attending Vicky Kaushal’s wedding with Katrina Kaif as his ‘family friend’

Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal are all set to tie the knot on December 9 in Jaipur, Rajasthan. Last evening the bride-to-be and groom-to-be left from Mumbai for Jaipur and earlier in the day Katrina’s family members were spotted at the airport. Several Bollywood celebrities have also arrived at Jaipur including Punjabi singer Gurdas Maan, who Vicky has previously addressed as his ‘idol’.

Gurdas was photographed at the Jaipur airport today sparking rumours about him performing at the star-studded wedding and upcoming sangeet ceremony. However, the veteran singer refuted such rumours and informed that he is attending the wedding as a ‘family friend’. The singer told an online portal, “I have arrived as a friend. Will take part in the wedding of Vicky Katrina as a friend of the family.”

Gurdas had previously performed at several high-profile celebrity weddings. Vicky had previously spoke fondly about the singer and told a leading tabloid that he met the singer for the first time after the release of his film Masaan and said that he told the singer that he had idolised him since he was a child and received a Rs 500 note from him. The actor and groom-to-be had said, “I look upto Gurdas Maan. He’s my idol. He gave me a currency note once and since then I till date have it saved with me in my wallet. I have so much respect for him and in my lifetime if I can even achieve 10% of what he has achieved I would be satisfied as an artist.”

The wedding festivities of Vicky and Katrina will take place from December 7-9 at the Six Senses Fort Barwara in Sawai Madhopur district. On Tuesday, several celebrities, such as Kabir Khan, Mini Mathur, Angad Bedi, Neha Dhupia, Sharvari Wagh, Shankar Mahadevan and others were spotted arriving at the Jaipur airport.
