Utkarsh Sharma feels 'Gadar 2 can only happen with a terrific story', says 'this is not a Fast and Furious film that you just keep coming up with sequels'

On June 15, 2001, Anil Sharma's Gadar starring Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel and Utkarsh Sharma released in cinemas and broke all records. It has been several years since rumours of the blockbuster film's sequel are floating online. The film recently completed 20 years. Now, director Anil's son Utkarsh, who played the role of Ameesha's-Sunny's son in the film, has opened up about the sequel.

Neither confirming nor denying the reports of Gadar 2, Utrkarsh said a, “Abhi toh hamari taraf se we have not announced anything. I understand the love of the fans, which they have been giving us even after 20 years desiring a sequel to this blockbuster film. That can only happen with a terrific story, and that takes time.” “This is not a Fast and Furious film that you just keep coming up with sequels. It needs that gravity, that time. Ek nayi duniya banane ke liye samay lagta hai. Rome was not built in a day, so I cannot, unfortunately, say anything at this point beyond that," he added.

On being prodded further, Utkarsh said that audiences will have to wait for a little bit more, as the pandemic is still on. “Now with the lockdown opening up, a lot of my projects are resuming together at the same time. Their release dates and announcements need to be sorted. Until that doesn’t happen, I can’t even think about Gadar 2,” shared Utkarsh, who had made his acting debut in a lead role Genius (2018).

Gadar-Ek Prem Katha finds itself in the top three all-time highest footfall list and remains to be director Anil's biggest blockbuster.
