PeepingMoon Exclusive: Akshay Kumar calls out Fake News on Bollywood site!

Akshay Kumar has reacted sharply to a ‘Scoop” that appeared this morning on a popular Bollywood site. According to the story, which quoted trade sources, the Bollywood superstar was reportedly requested by filmmaker Vashu Bhagnani to reduce his acting fee by 30 crore for the espionage thriller Bell Bottom that they made last year. The story, according to the actor, is Fake News!

Coming onto Twitter angrily, Akshay lashed out, “Waking up to Fake News!” He has been the victim of several such fake news tidbits in the past but always chose to ignore them. This one appears to have piqued the actor. It comes at a time when Bell Bottom’s release is imminent and up for discussion – either theatrically or via OTT. And Akshay and Vashu’s Pooja Entertainment banner are collaborating on another big budget action thriller.

A call to Vashu’s production house confirmed that the news was not true. Trade sources denied the news too and said it was false. “Then why was it published?” Pooja Entertainment wants to know. Figures have been quoted so authoritatively in the report that Akshay and Vashu were both bound to see red. Now the Bollywood superstar, who returns to action this week at Film City with Aanand L Rai’s new film Raksha Bandhan, has shown he won’t take any more. Incidentally, Raksha Bandhan is the first film to go on the floor in a bio-bubble during the second pandemic wave.
