Aditya Roy Kapur to replace Sidharth Malhotra in Thadam's Hindi remake?

PeepingMoon.com exclusively informed its readers that Sidharth Malhotra decided to opt out of Bhushan Kumar and Murad Khetani's Hindi remake of the Tamil film Thadam (2019). Our source further revealed that Murad is planning to make the film with a different actor. Now, according to the latest reports, Aditya Roy Kapur has been locked to play the lead role. A source close to the development told an entertainment portal that Aditya will replace Sidharth while Mrunal Thakur still remains to be a part of the film. 

The source said, "Aditya Roy Kapur has been locked in to play the hero now. It's an action packed film which will have in double roles. This will also be Aditya's first double role ever. When Sid opted out, they were on the lookout for a good looking hero who's fantastic with action. Apart from Adi, Mrunal remains part of the cast."

Aditya is currently shooting for Ahmed Khan-produced OM-The Battle Within with Sanjana Sanghi. The source said that the actor will start shooting for Thadam's remake after wrapping the actioner directed by Kapil Verma. "When he was approached for Thadam, he met the team and loved the script. He loved the duality of the characters. He has given them dates to begin the film sometime this year, after he wraps work on Om," the source shared. 

Talking about Sidharth's exit, PeepingMoon source stated that the actor wanted some major changes in Thadam's Hindi remake just to maintain the suspense. He also worked on the script himself but didn't like the final outcome. That's when he decided to part ways. Sidharth is shooting with Rashmika Mandanna for Mission Majnu and Thank God

Thadam, written and directed by Magizh Thirumeni, released in 2019 and starred Arun Vijay in a double role. The film revolved around a murder which led to a cat and mouse chase between the identical-looking characters and the cops in-charge. Debutante Vardhan Ketkar will be directing the Hindi remake.
