From classmates to co-stars: Rajkummar Rao and Jaideep Ahlawat’s old bond comes alive in Prahaar

Some collaborations are special because of the years of friendship behind them. Prahaar brings Rajkummar Rao and Jaideep Ahlawat together, while director Avinash Arun reunites with his old friend Rajkummar for a project that holds personal significance for all three.

Rajkummar and Jaideep were classmates, and their shared history has given them a comfort zone that goes beyond work. Their director, Avinash, was their junior at the institute, making the collaboration a reunion of sorts.

Talking about his bond with Jaideep, Rajkummar said, “Jaideep is my classmate and a phenomenal actor. We share a comfort zone because we have spent so many years together, and our director Avinash Arun was our junior.”

Avinash, who has known Rajkummar since their institute days, is equally excited about finally working with him. “Rajkummar is a thorough actor and my friend since institute days. We never got a chance to work with each other. I'm very fortunate that we got to work on a project like Prahaar. This is a very special project for us, and I feel lucky to have brought Jaideep and Raj together, two of India's finest actors,” he said.

Prahaar: The Untold Story of Ujjwal Nikam is directed by Avinash Arun and produced by Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Films. The film stars Rajkummar Rao as public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam, alongside Jaideep Ahlawat, Wamiqa Gabbi, Sikandar Kher, Ashish Vidyarthi, Lalit Prabhakar and Ritvik Sahore. The film is scheduled to release in cinemas on October 16, 2026.
