Salman Khan revives Being Haangryy initiative, to distribute food packets to COVID-19 warriors

In 2020, Salman Khan had utilised a van designed for his upcoming film Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai to help distribute meals to the needy during the COVID-19 lockdown. The superstar had started an initiative named Being Haangryy and several food trucks would run on the streets of Mumbai ensuring that people don't die of starvation. Now, Salman has revived the initiative as the country is fighting the second wave of COVID-19.

This time, Salman's Being Haangryy are providing meals to COVID-19 warriors including police officers, BMC staff and health workers on duty. Yuva Sena leader Rahul Kanal, who is working closely with Salman on the mission to serve frontline workers, told a leading daily that the superstar sprang into action immediately after the Government of Maharashtra announced a strict curfew in the state. "Salman expressed his concern for the police officers, BMC staff and health workers on duty. Given their long work hours, he wondered how they would procure essentials since most shops are shut and the grocery stores are functioning in the stipulated four-hour window. Within 24 hours of our conversation, our food trucks hit the road," Kanal told.

He further shared that three trucks in the past two days have distributed food packets to COVID-19 warriors between Worli and Juhu. "Our kits include tea, mineral water, a pack of biscuits, and snacks that include upma or poha or vada pav or pav bhaji. We have also started a helpline number on which the frontline workers can call, and we’ll travel to their area to serve them. It is Salman’s way of thanking them for their sustained efforts. This will go on till May 15," he added.
