Govinda wrote lyrics of his 15-16 hit songs, says 'had warned the lyricists that one day I will reveal this truth'

On the recent episode of singing reality show Indian Idol 12, Govinda and Shakti Kapoor appeared as guests. The contestants sang Govinda’s hit tracks from his films in the 90s and the duo had a blast going down the memory lane.

During the episode, contestant Nihal Tauro performed the song Main Toh raste se jaa raha tha from the film Coolie No. 1 that was released in 1995. After the performance, Govinda said, “When I was at my peak time, 15-16 hit songs of mine were written by me. I had warned the lyricists that one day I will reveal this truth.”

Later on, Govinda also revealed that his famous Deewana Mastana dialogue was written by him. Shakti also hopped on to the revelation bandwagon and revealed that the tone of his Raja Babu character Nandu was suggested to him by Govinda. The character is famous even today and he said that he owes it to Govinda.

The episode featuring Govinda and Shakti will air Sony TV at 8 PM on Sunday.
