Alia Bhatt and Sanjay Leela Bhansali have teamed up for the first time for Gangubai Kathiawadi. The upcoming film is said to be based on a chapter from author Hussain Zaidi's book, Mafia Queens of Mumbai. After much delay, Gangubai Kathiawadi will release in theatres on July 30, 2021. Today, on the occasion of Bhansali's birthday, the teaser of the film has been released. Before launching the teaser, the makers shared an interesting poster.
The teaser introduces Alia as Gangu who is the 'chand' of Mumbai's red-light area, Kamathipura. With her being around, there is no dull moment. A fearless Gangu lives life on her own terms. In the teaser, we can see her journey from an influential pimp to a politician who rules Kamathipura. Clearly, Alia has once again nailed it. She breathes life into Bhansali's character. After watching the teaser, we can't wait for more!
Early this morning, the makers shared a poster featuring Alia as Gangubai, a brothel madam from the red light area, Kamathipura who was reportedly pushed into prostitution at a very young age and became the most influential pimp.
Gangubai Kathiawadi also stars Ajay Devgn as Karim Lala.
