Alia Bhatt's Gangubai Kathiawadi is one of the most awaited films of the year. It is delayed by almost a year due to the COVID-19 lockdown. Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the film is based on a brothel madam who was powerful and influential. Today, on the veteran filmmaker's birthday, Gangubai Kathiawadi's teaser will be launched.
Ahead of the much-awaited teaser, the maker shared a poster featuring Alia. The actress commands attention as the brothel madam from the red light area, Kamathipura who was reportedly pushed into prostitution at a very young age and became the most influential pimp. In Gangubai Kathiawadi, Ajay Devgn will play the role of Karim Lala, who was the godfather of Bombay’s Pathans, one of the three legendary mafia dons including Haji Mastan and Varadarajan Mudaliar who ruled the city between the 1960s and 1970s.
Gangubai Kathiawadi will release on July 30, 2021.
