Akshay Kumar extends support to Mumbai Police as they get Segway electric scooters for patrolling, says 'Happy to see the modernization of our police force'

The Mumbai Police has played a key role in flattening the COVID-19 curve in India. When we are seated at home due to the lockdown, they were on the streets working day in and day out for our protection. Now, as we enter 2021, the Maharashtra state government introduced Segway electric scooters for the police force. An event was held on Saturday at Worli Sea-Face. Home Minister Anil Deshmukh and Minister Aaditya Thackeray flagged off segway electric scooters for police patrolling.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by Akshay Kumar. The event was graced by Mumbai's Commissioner of Police Parambir Singh and Deputy Commissioner Vishwas Nagre Patil. Sharing a video from the ceremony on Instagram, Akshay wrote, "At the inaugural of @MumbaiPolice’s self balancing vehicles of Freego to patrol our promenade at Worli and Carter Road. Happy to see the modernization of our police force, on par with global standards. HM @anildeshmukhncp ji, #AadityaThackeray, @cpmumbaipolice."

Akshay, at the event, was seen riding a segway. He encouraged the police force and interacted with them. In the past, Akshay has lent support to the police by gifting them a watch that monitors their health and fitness.

According to reports, the police officials manning segways will have a public address system attached to their masks. They will also monitor social distancing.
